hello,
my name is tom hubric and I reside in wicomico county in a small community called waterview
which is situtated at the end of nanticoke road where it dead-ends at the bay.
In that I am a WMDT TV weather watcher you may recognize my name.
I am a modest size free-range egg producer and sell my eggs at a washingtom D C
sunday only outdoor farmers market.
on my home on sunday afternoons I enjoy listening to your show on WSDL however,
I cannot receive all of it because of radio reception is not available until I reach the
cambridge area.
yesterday ( march 11th) I liaten to Jon bloom about food waste and the the desire
for food composting.
I thought you would be interested to know there is a small company located in the
washington D C area that is doing exactly what Jon bloom is suggesting.
the company is called COMPOSTE CAB and they attend to sunday farmers market.
customers are provided with a 5 gallon bucket. each sunday they bring the bucket
containing compostable unusable food items to the market where compost cab
takes it in exchange for an empty.
composte cab takes the buckets to a location in northern virginia where it is composted
and then sold to farmers or backyard garden folks.
Its a great idea which is really taking off in washington
It you would like to chat my number is 410 873 3346

You should ask the gentleman towards the end of the program, I believe his name is Ted Wycall, do an entire program based on his insights and comments on the economics of small farms, energy usage, and most importantly peak oil.

I hope that the people that heard (and the people that will hear the program) take his suggestions seriously and look into energy equation.

Enjoying the presentation about Adkins family farming on Delmarva very much. I have a question about chicken manure being spread on food crops. Isn't it true that chicken manure in loaded with heavy metals and other ingredients (arsenic, hormones etc.) that are hazardous to health? And, is it safe to use chicken manure on personal vegetable gardens, and if it is safe, how much is safe to use?
What is the NPK levels in chicken manure? I think that nitrogen is around 33%. What is Potassium and Phosphorus levels?

SU has basically taken all their three credit courses and made them four credit "enhanced" courses. This eliminates 20% of the classes traditionally required to obtain a degree, but keeps the cost the same. I believe this change degrades the educational value of a degree.

Please encourage people to find local food at www.localharvest.com. One affordable option for buying organic food is to join a CSA, where you pay upfront for a seasons worth of fresh veggies. After I quit my job to stay home with my kids I invested my tax return into joining a CSA. I call this an investment because I can support my local certified naturally grown farm, Calliope Farms, but also an investment in my family's health. We need to quit our addition to "convenience foods" which is making us diabetic! What we consume matters, let us error on the side of causation! And in regards to medical costs, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Please enable us to "like" or "recommend" you on Facebook. Your show is an absolute treasure; so compassionate, thought-provoking, and complete. I'd like to spread the word! I'm a recent city transplant, a progressive, a former organizer, and am slowly falling in love with Delmarva. Your show has been instrumental in this transition for me. Thank you!
